Tankia: Daytime producers are always looking for that elusive thing called chemistry.  For General Hospital's casting director, Mark Teschner, striking gold like Sonny and Carly or Jax and Brenda are all in a days work.  Well, it looks like he's done it again with the actors who play Nikolas and Gia.

CHEMISTRY LESSON

Tankia: Once upon a time, in the town of Port Charles, a handsome young prince met a fiesty young woman.

***
Gia: Let me go!
***

Marisa: Gia's first impressions of Nikolas was that he was arrogant, rich.

***
Gia: You know what this means, don't you?  You're gonna to have to sell the jag.
***

Coltin: We're always batting heads.  We're always, you know, trying to one-up each other.  But that's what made the chemistry so strong.

Mark Teschner: Chemistry is the hardest thing to cast for, because it's an indefinable magic that either happens or doesn't happen between two actors.  Nikolas and Gia, they have a lot of chemistry, which really helps, because if they didn't, we don't have a story.

Tankia: And what a story it was.  The damsel in distress had no place to live, so the well-mannered prince defied his family and offered her a place to stay.

Coltin: Helena took away all my money.  I couldn't affor to live at the cottage by myself, so I told her that she could come stay with me.

***
Nikolas: Do we have a deal or not?

Gia: Deal, if I get the master bedroom and bathroom first.
***

***
Gia: No.
***

Tankia: Under the same roof and in true soap opera style, the couple fell in love.

***
Nikolas: You're the only person I want to be with.
***

Coltin: Opposites attract.  They're pretty opposite.  They're good for each other.  They balance each other out.

Mark Teschner: You hope you have chemistry between two actors.   The good thing about Coltin is, there's always a twinkle in the eye, and he always seems to be enjoying himself.  And to see their chemistry together is really exciting.

Tankia: The actors' friendship off the set only adds to the on-screen magic.

Marisa: I don't know where our chemistry came from, but we kind of have always had this really good chemistry from the beginning, which made it easy for us to just start working together and start being in a relationship and start kissing each other so early on.

Tankia: But the course of true love did not run smoothly.  In order to save his brother, Lucky, the prince broke the lady's heart.

***
Nikolas: You have absolutely no idea what it's like to be a Cassadine.  You are not royalty, and that's part of the problem, ok?
***

Coltin: The breakup came from when Helena said, "You need to get rid of her."  So, really, just to prove his loyalty he just had to go along with this plot.

Tankia: After months of heartache and pain, Gia learned the truth about the prince's plot.

***
Nikolas: I lied so you could be safe.  And I can't stop until Lucky is safe, so the only thing I could have done is to keep you out of it.
***

Tankia: Finally free from the wrath of the evil queen Helena, the prince set out to make the lady his princess.

***
Nikolas: Will you marry me?
***

Coltin: What we've been through in the past two years shows us that there is no other match that fits better than Nikolas and Gia together.
