Gia: That girl is your sister?
Elizabeth: Well, the boys look awfully happy to see her. {They walk closer to them}
Sarah: Surprise! {Hugs Elizabeth}
Elizabeth: Oh.
Sarah: Oh, Lizzie, I'm so sorry I missed your wedding. I'm so happy for you and Lucky, though. You both look great. Marriage must be -- did I say something wrong?
~*~
Gia: The ice carvers were all booked and, besides, we needed more time for the dress. They sent ivory with --
Nikolas: I didn't get a chance to finish the introductions. Sarah, this is my fiancée, Gia Campbell.
Sarah: You're engaged? {Gia holds up her ring} That's wonderful. Congratulations.
Nikolas: Thank you.
Lucky: So, what brought you back from Prague?
Sarah: What started as homesickness grew into a wish. Next thing I knew, with a little effort, I was on a plane headed here.
Elizabeth: Never changes.
Gia: How long will you be staying?
Sarah: I'm back for good.
Lucky: Oh. Well, that's great.
Nikolas: So welcome home.
Lucky: Sure took you long enough.
Elizabeth forces a smile as she and Gia listen to the guys catch up with Sarah
Nikolas: So you're interning at GH. That's great.
Sarah: Yep. I got my acceptance a couple days ago. I don't know. I couldn't wait to surprise everyone. I missed you all so much.
Gia: Well, I'm sure lucky and Nikolas would love to hear all the details, but I've got a slight wardrobe glitch. So if you'll excuse me and Elizabeth, I need your help in the ladies' room. {The girls leave}
Sarah: What's really going on with you and my sister?
~*~
Elizabeth: What wardrobe glitch? And what was all of that about my train not matching?
Gia: I was trying to cover for you. The least you can do is thank me.
Elizabeth: Sarah is my sister. She knows I wouldn't cancel my wedding because the dress was wrong.
Gia: Well, if Sarah knows so much, why didn't she realize that the wedding was canceled? Or better yet, why aren't you thrilled to see her? And don't pretend that you are because I heard that crack about nothing ever changing.
Elizabeth: Gia, do you have a sister?
Gia: No. But I can totally grasp the concept of man-stealing witch. Does that describe Sarah?
Elizabeth: No. No, it's worse. My sister is perfect in every way. She is kind, she's sincere, she's generous. She's smart and hard-working. She's a doctor, for god's sakes, not to mention she's gorgeous without even trying.
Gia: Yeah, well, if you go for that type of thing.
Elizabeth: Yeah, well, I never met anyone who didn't. Gia, she spreads sweetness and light wherever she goes. She's beloved by men, women, children, and pets.
Gia: You poor thing.
~*~
Nikolas: Ice sculptures and mismatched trains aside, the timing wasn't right for the wedding.
Sarah: I could see Elizabeth was hurt when I asked about the wedding. I'm going to find out why, so you might as well just save us all some time and just tell me.
Nikolas: There's nothing to tell, really. It was a mutual decision --
Lucky: It was my fault.
Nikolas: It's a complicated situation. Let's just leave it at that.
Sarah: Not for me. If you hurt my sister or let her down in any way, you and I are no longer friends.
Lucky: Well, then I guess we're not. Because I did both.
Nikolas: No, you didn't, Lucky. Look, Sarah, if you're going to cut anyone off, it should be me. I am the one responsible for what happened to Lucky and Elizabeth.
~*~
Gia: Well, if your sister is so great, why didn't you tell her the truth about you and Lucky?
Elizabeth: Because she and have a past, that's all. And you know what? I really didn't feel like explaining.
Gia: Your sister is Lucky's old girlfriend?
Elizabeth: No. No, no. Lucky had a crush on her. She was in love with Nikolas.
Gia: What? Well, did Nikolas love her back?
Elizabeth: Um -- well, yeah, but --
Sarah: There you are.
Elizabeth: It was a long time ago.
Sarah: {Walks in the ladies room} Is everything Ok?
Gia: Fine. Disaster averted.
Elizabeth: Gia and I were just heading back to the table. Come on.
Sarah: First, can I talk to you alone for a second?
~*~
Gia walks back to the table, joining Nikolas and Lucky
Lucky: Well, what, is there some sort of floor show happening in the ladies' room? You guys have been in there most of the night.
Gia: We were in the middle of a very fascinating conversation.
Lucky: Hmm. About what?
Gia: Sorry. Content can't be revealed. After all, women have their secrets, don't they? I know men certainly do. Why don't you ask Nikolas? He'd love to explain about it. Some things you share with your fiancée, other things you share with other people.
Nikolas: Waiter? Check.
~*~
Gia: How serious were you about Sarah?
Nikolas: She was the first girl I ever loved.
Gia: Well, that was honest.
Nikolas: The operative word being "girl," Ok, as in high school crush.
Gia: Well, did you tell her things? Did you confide in her?
Nikolas: Sarah and I broke up after I got shot. There were complications, and, you know, for a little while, I couldn't speak.
Gia: So she bailed on you?
Nikolas: No. No, I didn't want her to see me as helpless or damaged, so I -- shut her out.
Gia: Like you're doing to me?
Nikolas: Gia, my father lied to you. He kidnapped you. Why would you want to sit here and listen to how I feel about him?
Gia: Because I want to listen. I want to know how you feel.
Nikolas: How I feel is that I love you. Ok? And I want to give you the life I promised. A life of freedom and travel. A life of us loving each other and spending time together. Let me make you happy, Ok?
Gia: You are my happiness, no matter where we are or what you're going through.
Nikolas: Well, that's good. I'll take that under advisement.
